Parent Handbook

A new Parent Handbook will be issued this month, we got some NEW policies to enforce with our STARS 3 status, plus we got some new families and refresher is always good. Please make you take the time to read in its entirety and return the Acknowledgment form.

Outdoors & Change Clothes

The Department of Welfare- office of Child Development& early Learning mandates that we take kids outside daily unless weather not permitting. It is imperative that every child has on seasonally appropriate clothing and outwear, especially school-age students that have to wait outside for the school bus. Also, please make sure we have a seasonally appropriate change of clothes on hand for each child.

FunRaiser

It's time for our annual pie fundraiser; we will be selling sweet potato pies for $10 each. We are asking each family to take a flyer and post to at your work to get the word out. Parents don't need to take orders, or collect money. The flyer will tell them how to place an order and make payment.

Assessment Time

It's assessment time for all children enrolled at Righteous Beginnings Learning Center, in accordance with our STARS 3 guideline staff will be using the following tools to assess children:

  • Infants & Toddlers will use the The Ounce System; visit www.ounceonline.com for more information.
  • Preschooler will use Work Sampling, which is being used by all Head Start and PreK Counts facility and school districts, visit www.worksamplingonline.com for more information. Please note that due to our partnership with Pittsburgh Public Early Learning staff is mandated to assess each child in October, February and May.
  • School –Age will use a home grown developed byt staff with the assistance of STARS TA, because STARS has not establish a set assessment tool; they are considering Ages & Stages but we use that as a screening tool.

DO NOT forget we are closed 12/24 until 1/3/2011; start planning for childcare service for this period.
